Research for presentation

panorama shots research

The idea I eventually chose for my project is a panorama shot. I feel this is the best sort of shot to convey the message i want to get across. I have also been experimenting with shutter speeds varying from using high shutter speeds and capturing light in a different way to using lower shutter speeds.

Main project ideas - brainstorm

Photography module

Ideas for main task

time lapse
  •         living room? – quite a lot of action in the living room/kitchen of my house people walking in and out, watching tv, cooking dinner, general nuisance
  • -       garden? – wildlife? Animal movements, birds/pigeons, extreme close ups to trees/leaves? Weather change, day/night sunset, rain? Slow shutter speeds to capture depth and darkness of clouds.
  • -       night time time lapse – fireworks!! Bonfire night capturing lights in the sky, star movement?
  • -       car journey? – motorway journey home, train journeys/general train station activity of passengers
  • -       football match – from behind goal, movement of players also weather will change throughout

panorama shots
  • -       inside house – bedroom, potentially boring?
  • -       football match – lack of uniqueness, been done before? Too common
  • -       fireworks – time issue? Only in November?
  • -       farm? Field – if can find the right focal point can be a very good effective shot. One tree surrounded by a lot of grass etc.
  • -       golf course/club – interesting and different to standard shots we see
  • -       bimringham town – ethical issues? Permission?
  • -       Worcester town – ethical issues and permission?
  • -       Train station -  different and new?

week 2

Me you and maybe the dog - task 1b

With this task certain technical issues were raised when merging two faces together, the first issue is skin tones and this is a problem when mixing peoples faces together that are different race, however this can be overcome by changing mid-tones and using the histogram of each image. Another issue is mixing two opposite genders together as certain facial features would not match on a face, for example if a women had lipstick on her lips or eyeliner on her eyes it would be hard to incorporate this into a male persona without it looking strange. When planning a shoot of this kind it would be helpful to consider ethnic backgrounds and skin tones because it is an advantage to have similar types when editing/creating a face.
